VMA Sturgeons Taekwondo Team Kicks Their Way to Victory, Advancing to National Competitions.

The VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. Sturgeons Taekwondo Team achieved remarkable success at the NIR PRISAA Taekwondo event, held at SM City Bacolod on March 10, 2025.

The team secured a total of 7 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals across both Poomsae and Kyurogi categories. Their outstanding performance was guided by their dedicated coach, Ms. Mary Ann Candillada, whose leadership played a pivotal role in their achievements.

The gold medalists from the Sturgeons Taekwondo Team were:

Gabayeron, Dem Mark – Kyurogi
Pecha, Davon – Kyurogi
Escasinas, Luigi – Kyurogi
Yapatangco, Mishael – Kyurogi
Escora, Jurey Lou – Poomsae
Yutrago, Ma. Mea Grace – Poomsae
Llaguno, Rein Sydney – Poomsae

These gold medalists will have the honor of representing the Negros Island Region in the upcoming National PRISAA Taekwondo Competitions, showcasing their skill and determination on a larger stage.

Llaguno, Rein Sydney – Kyurogi
Sereno, Andrea – Kyurogi

The bronze medalists were:

Pano, Elynne Vic – Kyurogi
Soberano, Azriel – Poomsae
Escora, Jurey Lou – Poomsae
Yutrago, Ma. Mea Grace – Kyurogi
Dioso, Lance – Kyurogi

In addition to their medal achievements, the team was proud to celebrate a runner-up finish overall, placing second in both the men’s and women’s divisions among all the participants from eight different school. This accomplishment underscores the exceptional talent and hard work demonstrated by the Sturgeons Taekwondo Team throughout the competition.
