VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. conducted a symposia on September 29, 2025, themed “Empowering Youth: Preventing Substance Abuse, Crime, and Suicide through Education and Support.”
The activity aimed to raise awareness and strengthen students’ understanding of critical social and mental health issues affecting the youth.
Mr. Rene III Alcala, Director of Student and External Affairs, opened the program by emphasizing the importance of community involvement and support.
Dr. Jezza Mae Tolentino, RMT, MD, Resident Physician at CLMMRH, discussed the health impacts of drug abuse and encouraged students to remain informed and seek help when necessary.
PMAJ Leo G. Estopa of the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division highlighted student-led and community-based approaches to crime prevention, while Dr. Romeo A. Orcajada Jr., Psychiatrist at the Bacolod City Mental Health Care Center, focused on suicide prevention, emotional resilience, and peer support.
The symposia concluded with a strong call to promote education and awareness as essential tools in preventing substance abuse, crime, and suicide among the youth.
